From an early age, I spent a lot of time in self-reflection. I was a truth seeker. I questioned reality and knew there was way more lurking beneath the surface. Even as a child, I sensed there was more to people's words than what they were saying.
I drove my poor mother crazy with all of my questions. Especially since she didn't have the answers I was looking for. I read my first self-help book when I was twelve. It was, Codependent No More. Little did I know at the time, it was a classic and one I would return to frequently for personal and professional reasons. I saw my entire family system described in that book. I was mesmerized, "How do I fix this?" Those answers would come much, much later. Like two master degrees in psychology and thousands of hours of therapy and personal growth trainings.
In high school, I held impromptu therapy groups after lunch. I loved listening, and helping solve problems. I was voted most likely to write a self-help book. Those moments sealed my destiny. In my 20’s, I tore through psychological literature and transformational seminars, and earned my first master’s in Spiritual Psychology. In my 30’s, I went on to earn a second master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.
Growing up, I could feel other people's emotions and had no context for what was happening inside of me. I had no idea that I was an intuitive empath-a person with a heightened sense of what others were feeling. What I now understand as a gift, felt more like a curse when I was an adolescent. I wanted to turn it off. It took decades to learn how to differentiate between my feelings and those of others. As I developed a greater internal presence and connection to my essence, through meditation, prayer and therapy, I was able to use my intuition to help guide others. My heightened capacity for empathy became the bridge between me and those I served and the corrective experience they needed.
I’m not just a therapist when I'm in the office. It’s not a cap I wear. I live and breathe it every day. That means I seek to be the most integrated version of myself. It takes courage to look inside, and it really helps having the right people around to reveal our blind spots. It's my intention to be that person for you. I firmly believe that we can only guide others as far as we’ve come ourselves. Lucky for me, the path is long, so I’m never done learning and growing. It’s a forever job and there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing.
To this day, I'm a voracious reader of the psychology, spirituality, and the self-help genres. I’m constantly studying, self-reflecting, taking workshops, seminars and refining my skills. I'm committed to self actualization and doing whatever it takes to become a whole and integrated being and supporting others to be the same. I feel it’s the most important pursuit and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve.
A little about my practice...
I'm dually licensed in Florida and California. From 2017-2019 I was the resident Psychotherapist on an integrative team of experts at Canyon Ranch—the "original trailblazer of integrative wellness." Three times a week , I taught classes about meditation, the mind, body and soul reconnection and the art of Feng Shui.
I’m committed to an integrative approach to therapy.
My first master's was in Spiritual Psychology and my second was in Depth (Jungian) Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. I offer a client-centered, compassionate and integrative approach to therapy with a focus on the transpersonal- the aspect to each one of us that transcends our traumas. When clients access this part, then they can have a deeper and more meaningful relationship with themselves and life.
When working with clients, I draw upon psychodynamic, family systems and transpersonal modalities, which include: guided meditation, dream-work, visualization, mindfulness practice, inner child work, holographic memory resolution of traumas, the Release Technique, Inner Bonding and somatic (body focused) practices.
